Projects Module

The Projects Module is the foundation of a Stardraw Cloud application: the administration of the application, its product catalog, its users, and the projects they build. Every other module adds to it, and both integrator packages include it.

The admin interface

Everything about your application is configured in its admin interface, by you and the administrators you appoint:

  • Settings — the application’s name, description, logo, icon, units of measurement and web address; the data fields (Settings) collected for products, projects, users, reports and drawings; who may register; the drawing view types a new project gets.
  • Products — the catalog your users choose from: create products one at a time or in bulk from a spreadsheet, give each any settings you have defined, group them by product type and category, and attach datasheets and images. The product data modules add physical data, accessories and the Stardraw Library.
  • Lists — predetermined values a setting can be chosen from, such as countries, currencies or your own classifications.
  • Roles and users — roles carry the privileges an administrator holds (which admin pages, read or write) and what a project user may see; users are invited, assigned roles and given values for any user settings.
  • Emails — the messages your application sends when a user registers, resets a password, is invited to a project or takes a snapshot, edited in a rich-text editor with substitution fields.
  • Translation — every word on screen can be changed, to your own terminology or another language.
  • Projects and snapshots — every project and snapshot created in the application, to inspect, open or delete.

Projects

A project is the container for a user’s work. Your users create projects, give them the project settings you have defined (client, site, dates, commercial terms, anything you like), and build them up with products and drawings.

  • The Products page — the products in the project with their quantities, the bill of materials in the making; products are added from the catalog by browsing, searching or from a drawing.
  • Sharing — a project’s owner invites other users as viewers, editors or admins, and everyone editing it sees each other’s changes live.
  • Snapshots — a locked, timestamped copy of the whole project with a unique number: the basis of a quotation or an order that must not change after it is issued.
  • Drawings and reports — each drawing module adds a drawing type to a project; the Reports Module turns a project into quotations, orders and schedules.

What the Projects Module does not include

Drawings, cables, reports, the AI assistant, single sign-on and branding are their own modules. A Projects-only application is a fully working product configurator and quotation tool without them: catalog, projects, quantities and snapshots.
