Cables Module

Stardraw Cloud does not just draw your system; with the Cables Module it understands how it connects. Cables become part of the project, checked as they are drawn, numbered, labeled and scheduled.

The cable catalog

In the admin interface, the Cables page holds everything the application knows about interconnection: the connectors equipment is wired with and which connectors mate with which, the signals cables carry, and a catalog of cable types with the settings you define for them (part number, screen, cost per meter). Nothing has to be filled in before users can draw: a cable drawn between two ports works out what it is from those ports.

Cables in a project

  • Drawn port to port on a block schematic, or listed directly on the project’s Cables page, and glued to the ports they join so they follow the equipment.
  • Checked live: direction (an output to an input, or bidirectional ports), signal (HDMI to HDMI, not to Ethernet) and connector compatibility, with the exact reason shown and the option to override a connector on one cable.
  • Stable IDs from a numbering format you define, per application or per project, with labels that update live on the drawing, on the Cables page and on printed labels.
  • Off-page references that continue a cable on another drawing as one row of the schedule; multicore cables drawn core by core; cables not in the catalog defined on the spot.
  • Conduits, trunking and trays with a fill percentage against their limit.
  • Ready-made reports: Cable Schedule, Conduit Schedule and Cable Labels, for the Reports Module.
  • The same operations for the AI assistant: “patch every access point to the core switch”.

What it needs

Products need ports — typed by signal and connector — which come with this module or with the Block Schematic Module. Cables are drawn on block schematics, so most applications take the two together.
