Cabling with confidence: connections that check themselves

June 12, 2026 · The Stardraw Team

Stardraw Cloud doesn't just draw your system — it understands how it connects. Cables are first-class objects that link products port-to-port, stay glued to the ports they join, and follow the equipment when you move it around a drawing.

Validation as you design

As you connect ports, every link is checked:

  • Direction — confirms a cable runs from an output to an input.
  • Signal — warns when the two ports carry different signal types.
  • Connector compatibility — warns when the two connector types aren't a permitted pairing, with the option to override a connector on a specific cable.

Valid connections show a green tick; anything questionable shows a warning with the exact reason — so your team catches problems before they reach the installer.

A real cable catalogue

Behind the scenes, your application has a cable catalogue with connectors, connector pairings and signal definitions, all managed in the Admin Portal. That's what makes the validation meaningful for your products.
